"A Dream Come True"

 

Another chapter in the history of Scoil Lorcáin B.N.S., St. John's Park, was completed on Friday, 9th November with the official opening of the

new multi-million euro extension and major refurbushment work carried out to the school. 


School Principal Mr. Harry Flynn - himself a former pupil of Scoil Lorcáin - said that today "was a dream come true, and now at long last we have this new magnificent school building".  All the speakers in their addresses paid tribute to Mr. Flynn for his foresight and dedication, hard work and commitment to Scoil Lorcáin and the school extension project which has tak


en nearly eight years to complete from the initial planning stages to the completion of the building work. 

The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Waterford, Cllr Mary O'Halloran, Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, William Lee, Minister for Social and Family Affairs, Mr. Martin Cullen T.D., Chairman of the Board of Management Fr. Sean Melody, local politicians, members of local community, sporting and voluntary groups, residents associations, past pupils, various school committees and members of the St. John's Park community. 

The Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, William Lee, led the prayers and blessed the new school extension.  Minister Cullen unveiled a plaque in the foyer to mark the official opening and boys from 3rd, 4th and 5th classes under the direction of Mrs Jordan prtovided music for the official opening ceremony
